Beginning the Madness: Minerva's Mercy by Mecrob
Share
There are easier ways to spend your free time — like skydiving without a parachute or explaining the plot of Inception to your dog. But instead, I’ve chosen to begin building Minerva’s Mercy — a wildly intricate, 3D metal puzzle kit by Microbe that practically screams:
"Hope you enjoy tiny pieces and existential doubt!"
And you know what? I’m all in.
This is the kind of project that demands tweezers, patience, and the occasional deep sigh of regret. But it’s also a work of art in the making — a mechanical, steampunk-inspired beauty made entirely of metal sheets, tabs, and the whispered prayers of frustrated builders.
First Impressions:
Straight out of the box, it’s intimidating in the best way. Sheets of laser-cut stainless steel stare up at you like they know exactly how many hours of your life they’re about to claim. But wow — the design. The craftsmanship is stunning, and even before assembling a single piece, I can already see why this kit has such a devoted following.
From what I gather, Minerva’s Mercy is part sculpture, part puzzle, part personality test. It's delicate. It's detailed. And once complete, it should look like something you'd find in a forgotten room of Da Vinci’s workshop.
Why I’m Doing This:
Because I love a challenge. Because I enjoy cursing at microscopic tabs. And mostly, because there’s something deeply satisfying about turning chaos into structure — even if it takes several weekends and mild eyestrain.
What’s Next:
I’ll be updating this build journey regularly — sharing milestones, close-up photos, helpful tips (aka mistakes I made so you don’t have to), and maybe even a celebratory dance when I complete the first gear system without flinging a part across the room.
This is going to be a journey. A shiny, maddening, glorious one.
So buckle up, fellow builders. Minerva’s Mercy has begun — and I plan to finish it with both dignity and all ten fingers intact.
