Half Metal, Half Obsession - Building the 1:2 Scale T-800 from Agora Models
Share
Some people collect stamps. Others knit.
Me? I’m building a half-scale cybernetic killing machine in my spare time. And I’m loving every second of it.
Welcome to my journey with the Agora Models 1:2 Scale T-800 Endoskeleton — a glorious tribute to one of sci-fi’s most iconic characters, and a serious test of patience, precision, and geek-level commitment.
First Impressions:
Right out of the box, this thing is massive. At half scale, the T-800 stands over 3 feet tall once complete, and the level of detail is borderline absurd — in the best possible way. Every piston, cable, and joint is crafted with care, and you don’t just slap this thing together... you build it.
Every month, a new pack of parts arrives like a care package from Skynet, each one bringing the model one step closer to sentience (or at least shelf-readiness). And I’ll be honest — seeing it slowly come to life with each new addition is incredibly satisfying. The glowing eyes, articulated fingers, metallic sheen — it all adds up to something that feels less like a model and more like a resurrection.
Where I’m At:
I’m currently about halfway through the build, and it’s already looking phenomenal. The skull alone could star in its own movie. The internal mechanics are a joy to assemble, and I find myself admiring the engineering almost as much as the aesthetics.
I’ve completed:
-
Most of the skull and torso assembly
-
One Arm and articulating hand
-
The early wiring for the glowing eyes (and yes, they're already unnerving in the best way)
What’s Next:
From here, I’ll be finishing the lower body, completing the base structure, and wiring up the full LED functionality — because what’s a Terminator without glowing red eyes that silently judge your snack choices?
I’ll be updating this post with photos, notes, and probably a few mild rants when tiny screws go rogue. Stay tuned as this beauty comes fully online.
Final Thoughts (For Now):
If you’re a fan of Terminator, complex builds, or just love the idea of assembling something that looks like it might eventually try to overthrow humanity — this is a build worth doing. It’s not just a model... it’s a monument to movie magic and mechanical madness.
And yes, when it’s done, it will have a place of honor in the Lab.
Coming soon: Photo updates, display base plans, and a bonus list of inappropriate things I plan to make the T-800 hold once it’s done. Stay tuned. 😎
